We all know how important it is to have a good-fitting bra—and how difficult it can be to find one. Even if you think you know your size, our bodies shift without us knowing it and it’s important to recheck you size every couple of years. That’s why each season, She She lingerie store, at 17 S. Third Street in downtown Geneva in the western Chicago suburbs, periodically hosts bra fit clinics. It’s a great opportunity to get fit and help raise money for charity.

On Tuesday, April 12, 2010 from 9:00 a.m – 5:30 p.m. come in to She She to get fit for a bra, foundation or after breast surgery product and help us raise money for the American Cancer Society.  A portion of sales from all of  The Merra-Lee Shops on April 12 will be donated toward breast cancer research.

In addition to our in-house fitting experts, special guests Julie Naylor-Gottlieb, Amoena Territory Manager will be here. Julie can answer all of your questions about Amoena’s full line of post-breast-surgery products, including bras, breast forms, and swimwear.

Also joining us will be Nikki Spitzer representing Green & Wellness.

Color is an important factor this spring and summer, as well as geometric shapes, particularly circles.    Warmer colors are appearing in metals, such as copper tones, antiqued silver, and tri-colored necklaces and earrings.  We’re also seeing an emphasis on eco-friendly materials such as wood and bone. The Meeting Place has an interesting collection of rings made from replenishable Tagua Nuts.

Strands will start to get thinner and more graceful as we move into the summer season. But simple doesn’t have to be bland. Charms and vintage elements are going to be very big in costume jewelry this year, but on thinner chains and spread out more so each charm can be appreciated.  Also, semi-precious gemstones are still popular, like this collection of rings by Anne Koplick.

For bracelets, look for edgy antiqued metal cuffs and leather embellished cuffs, as well as multi-layered bangles.

Merra-Lee’s selection of  contemporary fashions for women of all ages and expanded collection of fabulous casual jewelry will be showcased in sleek, new surroundings, where you’ll be bathed in natural light because we’re knocking down walls to let the sun in.

Big:

Necklaces, bracelets, and rings are big and bold this season.  It’s a great look because bulky accessories can dress up a basic sweater or top  as well as hold their own with more showy outfits.

Glitsy:

Sparkle and shine!  Rhinestones and other faux gemstones are not only showing up in jewelry, but also right on the sweaters and jackets themselves.   You can either be up-front with your glitz, or go for a more subtle look by pairing the shiny with blackened and burnished metals.

Stretchy:

Stretchy bracelets are popular this season, and the coolest new development in jewelry is the stretchy ring!  All the rings picture here, including our famous Carol Dauplaise ring from Redbook, are stretchies, which means one size fits all.  We’ve got several different styles of stretchies in Merra-Lee, The Meeting Place, and Boutique 15.  Big, bold, glitsy, and fun styles lend themselves perfectly to the thicker bands required for stretchies.
